Jim Jr. came to our house, reviewed our needs, and walked us through our options. He listened to us and helped us find the right HVAC for our needs and budget. When Jim Jr. inspected our units, he noticed the tag showing that Fire ‘N Ice actually installed our original A/C in 1999! It was comforting to know their original unit was still chugging along.
After doing our research, we decided to wait until our HVAC actually broke before replacing it. However, when the technician from Fire ‘N Ice came to do a Clean & Check appointment, he explained the different parts that were likely to break by the end of the winter on our 18 year old model. Therefore, we decided to bite the bullet and buy the new HVAC. Jim Jr. waived the Clean & Check fee for us and helped us schedule our HVAC install for 3 days later in order to qualify for the year-end tax credits.
Another thing I love about Fire ‘N Ice is they file all of the warranty and rebate paperwork for you. You don’t have to lift a finger. This is a differentiating factor. Many of the companies we spoke with said we were responsible for filing this paperwork. It was great having Fire ‘N Ice handle this hassle for us!
The installation experts were great. They were kind, courteous, and knowledgeable. They put the new units in in less than 8 hours and made sure I didn’t have any questions before they left. They also cleaned up the area and laid protective covers on my floors.

“I was extremely happy with the service provided by Fire ‘n’ Ice. I needed to replace a 30 year old AC and furnace. I had 4 companies come out and take a look at what was in place to provide estimates. Of the four that came out, Jim Jr. was the only one to really dig into the setup of the furnace and take proper measurements. The other 3 guys talked to me then took a brief look and the AC & furnace and then said they’d send a quote (which they all did). After Jim Jr. finished looking at everything, he sat down with brochures and explained the pros and cons of each of the options and what I would be getting by upgrading units so I could make an educated decision on what made the most sense cost wise as well as what would be best long term. He was able to provide a quote before even leaving my house. They were very competitively priced with the other guys that sent the quotes.
After making my choice, it only took a few e-mails to get everything setup for the install date. They were on-time, friendly and explained some things they ran into along the way. They finished up the install on everything in less than a full day. They also had all the paperwork for the rebates, which they handle submitting for you. At the end, they walked me through the units, how to troubleshoot and do maintenance, and what to do if there were issues in the future. They even offered to help move my washing machine back in the laundry room after I moved it out to make room for the furnace install.
At the end of the day, they were upfront with their recommendations, showed up on-time and did a good job with the install, did not exceed the price I was quoted, and made the extra effort to explain the units I had just purchased and help move my appliances back to their original location.

“From the initial call to the completion of the installation, this was a very positive experience. When their salesman, Jim first came out, he did a complete analysis of our home. He asked us about concerns we had with our existing system. He spent over an hour and a half at our home. He explained all the different equipment options and their unique benefits. The next day he provided us three detailed proposals for the different options. He helped us decide on the best option based on our concerns with our current system. The best news was their price was competitive with the other bids we received. The other two companies we received proposals from spent at most a 20 minutes at our home. Neither of them performed a detailed analysis of our home like Jim did.
The installation was scheduled at a time that was at our convenience. Mike from their office communicated with us to confirm the installation date and time. “15 year old furnace was arcing, making screeching and static noises and not putting out enough heat. called Fire and Ice and DJ came out within 6 hours from initial call. He diagnosed the problem as we needed a new inductor motor, to the tune of 900.00 but he did not want us to throw good money after bad and suggested Jim Jr come and give estimate on new furnace. He was here at 7:30 AM the next day and it was determined that the smartest thing to do was get a new furnace. To save money on labor we also contracted for a new water heater.

“We’ve been using Fire ‘n’ Ice for many years and had them install our furnace in Downers Grove in 2000.
Previously working fine, our furnace shut down unexpectedly at 11:30pm during the cold weather last week. After checking the thermostat and trying to restart the furnace, I called the 24 hour Fire ‘n’ Ice number to ask for a morning service call and the representative said that they would call at 7:30am, which they did. I was surprised that they scheduled an immediate appointment and arrived promptly at 8:30am.
The service technician, Tom, who is undoubtedly quite experienced in HVAC, found the problem immediately, replacing two worn parts and the furnace started right away. Tom was very thorough, fully explaining the operation of the furnace so I would have a better understanding of what to look for in an emergency situation and when to schedule the next maintenance.
